This weekend as been sweet so far.  My parents finally decided to buy cell phones.  We are usually pretty late on all of the technology trends, like cable and cordless phones.  I guess they just dont trust them, or maybe theyre just ignorant to that kind of stuff.  After i got my new cell phone I went to Walmart and bought an 8 dollar pair of black velcro shoes.  How cool is that.  How many people do YOU know that have velcro shoes? (under the age of 60 please, come on now).  I've gone to a couple of graduation parties also.  It's fun to hang out with all the people I've always gone to school with. Saying goodbye sucks but we were just relaxing and having a good time.  Other things I did were playing ultimate frisbee on our turf football field, and then playing kickball on the little league field.  I think some people are trying to organize a twang-ball game on the ball field road softball field under the lights.  (for those of you that arn't from Maine, twang ball is baseball except with a tennis ball and a tennis racket, a very cool Mainer pasttime, so shut up.)  Anyways the baseball playoffs are starting and I'm about to graduate so life is actually pretty awesome right now, things are going well.  I'm out to go film a french movie for my final, talk to you laterrrr.

Today was sweet, no rain, a little sun, and a baseball double header.  It felt really good to get away from this damn rain and just not having to worry about anything (graduating, college, work) except playing some sweet class A highschool baseball.  We won both our games today against Hermon and Nokomis, games we definately should have won so it's good that we came out on top.

I need to start working on my tan.  Random enough but after I graduate I am going to VIRGINIA....BIATCHES.  I'm pretty sure that rockin' my mainer farmers tan wont hold up too well in that hot sunny climate.  I can't wait till I'm actually there, I'm going down with my girlfriend and her family to stay a week in virginia.  Plus side of going to virginia: sunny and not raining, going to a theme park, washington dc, and seeing my crazy bastard navy seal brother.  Down side to going to virginia: nothing except the 13 hour drive but it's definately worth it.

Oh yeah I got a job too.  I'm working for a company that builds inground pools.  I'll work just about everyday so I'll be making alot of cash which is awesome because I have about 27 dollars in my bank account right now.  If that's not depressing then I dont know what is, damn.  Oh well it'll be nice to have a steady cashflow going throughout the summer, flippin' sweet.  Cash, Virginia, graduating..... luckkkkkky.  I'm out like a trout cub scout.

Hey there, things have been going really well for me lately.  There's only a few days left until graduation and I get to kiss H.A. goodbye.  I'm trying to soak up as much of this relaxation and slacking off as I can because I know that in three short months from now I'll be back in school.  I'll be attending Stevens Institute of Technology and will be a Biomedical Engineering undergraduate.  Who knows if that will stay because on average, people change their major up to three times before they graduate, so who knows.

I feel pretty good saying goodbye to high school.  I feel like I've accomplished a lot, between three sports a year (including those 5am hockey practices) I've been a part of two Eastern Maine Championship teams (hockey and cross-country), also I've taken four AP classes and still maintained a 4.0, pretty slack on the club involvement but who cares really, and I just feel like I'm not leaving anything behind.... except my girlfriend.  I'll be leaving a girl who I've been with for 2+ years to go eight hours away.  We'll only see each other during my breaks,  it's depressing and I really wish I didn't have to do it to either of us but I know that if it is supposed to then it'll find a way to work itself out.  Anyways that was a mouthful, I'm going to go and continue to procrastinate on doing anything productive and play some pool in my basement (the freedom from school work is awesome).  I'll catch y'all later.

Film review of "The Natural":

First of all I want to start off by saying that after having watched this movie I quickly realized that it was an hour and a half of my life that I would never get back, and it was depressing.  The Natural is a story about a baseball prodigy named Roy Hobbes (Robert Redford, who also directed and produced the film) who lives for baseball.  Out of high school he got moved to the majors as a pitcher but randomly got shot by a woman who seduced him after he struck out Babe Ruth at a sketchy carnival.  Random enough, but he didn't die.  15 more random years later he joins the game as an old timer.  For some reason unknown to me, he hits a homerun every at bat.  Well except for the one time that he tore the entire cover off the ball only to have the leftovers hit the center field fence, real realistic, right?  Even though he struck out The Great Bambino (Babe Ruth) he got stuck in right field and just hit homeruns every time at bat.

Despite the bad acting and less than average storyline, I figured that at least the baseball aspect of the game would be decent.  Wrong.  There were several plays that just could not happen in a game, legally and physically.  For example one play there were two people running at second base, one from third and one from first, how much sense does that make?  Come on now, seriously.  Also at the end of the game, championship game, bottom of the ninth, two outs, down by 3, bases loaded, full out, and he crushes a homerun into the field’s lights.  Believe it or not, by hitting one light he short circuited the entire field and all the lights blew up into a spectacular fireworks show.  So basically this movie is a joke.  The actor who played Roy Hobbes (Redford) tried way too hard to be a modest country boy baseball player.  Instead of a strong role model he turned into a James Bond Wannabe.   He turned every question that people asked him into another question back at them, never really answering anything.

The movie itself full of its bad acting, poor writing/script work, and unrealistic/improbable baseball scenes was a waste of time.  Basically he gets shot, plays right field, hits a ridiculous amount of homeruns, wins the pennant, and short circuits the entire field from one hit.  There’s the entire movie so I’m saving you the wasted effort of watching this movie, your welcome.

I definately realized today how well off Hampden Academy sports are.  Thanks for nothing to the school itself and its budget but rather hats off to those personal donations, especially those million dollar ones.  We have a sick turf stadium with lights and a snack shack/radio booth that is the size of a normal house.  The field accomadates soccer, field hockey, football, and softball, not to mention anything else you can play on a turf field.  Also we have an insane new baseball stadium, this is what I am most excited about because I am on our awesome baseball team.  We have a crushed rock warning track and a stone retaining wall around the backstop.  Our team just bought a roll away cage for batting practice, who knows how much one of those costs.  Then there is our huge electronic scoreboard, double bull pens, and batting cage.  Basically we have sick facilities and our talent levels are just about reaching the potential that our field provides us with.  It's awesome to have all this awesome stuff but I dont think younger generations will appreciate it as much as we do because we were all in highschool before this stuff was built so we can definately appreciate the awesome sporting environment that very generous people have donated for us.  Merci beaucoup et au revoir.
